On the Road

Most people are familiar with social networks like MySpace and Facebook, but there are also social networks focused on special interests. MyRVer is one focused on RVing. There are places to simply look around and hang out, talk with friends new and old, ask and answer questions, and just share your love of some particular subject. In our case, you’ll get together with RV enthusiasts all over the USA and beyond.  Connecting with others is a great way to enhance your own experience.

So who is it for?

Well, this site is for everyone with an interest in RVing. Whether you’re just thinking about trying it out for a weekend or you’re an old-timer, we’ve got new friends for you to meet. We’re amazed at the huge variety of ways people use their RVs.

What’s there to do?

Well, first there’s the forum. That’s where you can ask questions and provide answers. Think of it as a big global campfire where everyone is welcome to come in, sit down and enjoy the conversation. People ask about campgrounds, things to see, what to pack, even ways to fix things. If you’ve got a question about anything related to RVing, that’s the place to go. You never know what you might learn.

You can also join special interest groups where like-minded individuals get together to discuss certain themes. Currently, there’s a group for newbies, one for fly-fishers, and one for people with vintage travel trailers. There’s no limit to the number of groups the site can hold, so members can start their own group whenever they like.  You just click on the button that says “create a group” and you’re on your way. Don’t forget to invite your friends to join your group, too.

There’s a blog feature on your profile page where you can keep a personal journal of your travels. This is a wonderful way to share your adventures with friends and family. They can just log on and read about what you’ve been up to. You can also store and share photos and videos of your trips. This is one of our favorites.

One of the first things you’ll see on the home page is a map with lots of RVs all over it. Those are members on actual trips. You can click on the RV and see where they are, where they’re going, and lots more. It’s a really fun feature.

The mapping feature is something everyone can use. You can map out a trip you have previously made and for those full-timers you can impress your friends with the number of trips and places you have visited. If you are planning to take a trip one day, you can map this out too. If you have questions about places you plan to visit you can post them on MyRVer and see if other RVers can help answer them.

Probably the first thing you’ll want to do is fill out your profile and add a picture of yourself. That way other people with similar interests can find you easily. If you’ve never joined a social network before, we encourage you to give it a try. It’s easy, and we’ll guide you through anything that doesn’t make sense. In fact, that’s why we’re doing a beta trial. We want to hear about things that don’t make sense, aren’t working, or make you go “huh?”

Here’s how to get in as a beta member.

Step 1: Go to MyRVer.com

Step 2: Click on the “Sign Up” link (it’s on the right hand side of the page)

Step 3: Type in your email address and a password you can remember (oh, and those funny letters that keep spammers out.)

Step 4: Create a profile and you’re done!
