Back again to ask Bo D'Avanzo if they have found a Good Sam Chapter or Family Motor Coach group?. You may want to make contact through attending one of the GS Samboree's as a "Member At Large" & observe the Chapter activities. Good way to find people with your same interest. Find active group, not those who are observers only at the Samboree. Parades, games are good team work. Also they are people who usually like to plan interesting trips within a given distance when chapter has monthly meetings. Doesn't take too much encouragement to celebrate birthdays, special dates of members in a fun way. Happy Trails.

I suggest visiting several GS or FMCA Chapters before making a membership choice. Wish I had really learned after 35yrs+ of RVng, the lesson of not overloading the RV.
Think some of the reasoning came from being Charter members and thinking responsible for having supplies available for any event that may happen. Can't belv. the tools, well just about everything you name. Also there weren't that many "Camping Worlds" (1 in Myrtle Beach, SC) or supply stores available. The Balboa MH was a curiosity in 1970 here on the East Coast.

Class A RV will qualify you for Family Motor Coach of America. Good Sam Club accepts all RV'S including Campers (slide-in on truck bed)Pop-outs,etc. Both have Chapters available across the U.S. and Canada. Visit few different groups & you will find the one you feel most comfortable joining. They will share many helpful suggestions. FMCA of America have rallies, and GS has the Samborees. IF you are new to RV life, definitely recommend attending these special programs and attend the workshops. Having knowlege about the rig, the more relaxing your camping experiences.
Both have monthly magazines that also help you with planning future vacation trips. One lesson I wish I could say I learned in the 35yrs, is don't overload your rig. Enjoy your RV. Happy Trails! Jean

When I had my RV I found that the RV Talk email list was full of people who loved RV'ing and were very knowledgeable about everything under the sun. Check them out at http://www.rvclub.com/rv_talk/faq.cfm because they are a great bunch of people who love to help other RV'ers. They'll know what clubs are out there, have opinions on them, know about caravanning groups etc. Its nice to have opinions from people who actually know what they're talking about!

Good traveling! (I'm SOOOO jealous!)

There are thousands of clubs that can be a joy to travel and party with. Family Motor Coach Association www.fmca.com is a national organization of motorhomes with hundreds specialized and area clubs under its banner. Good Sam Club www.goodsamclub.com includes all types or RVs and its hundreds of locals do a lot together. Both national organizations offer group discounts on insurance, maping, purchasing items... It's well worth the annual national dues. Your RV manufacturer probably has an club organization that offers group campouts and discounts as well.

Yes there are my parents where in one when i was a kid, they would have a camp-out about once a month during the spring, summer and fall. each time there would be a few activities for young and old alike and a bonfire at night.

It was part of the National Campers and Hikers Association. I think they are still around but haven't looked in years.
you may see them at campgrounds in your area. some have separate areas just for groups.
